Over 30 international experts to participate in the event "In the Face of war - European Dialogues" in Bucharest

Over 30 international specialists - researchers, experts, journalists - from France, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Poland, Armenia, Georgia, Ivory Coast and Romania, as well as students from French and Romanian universities are participating, from Tuesday to Thursday, in the event "In the face of war - European dialogues."According to a press release sent on Tuesday, the French Institute in Romania, in partnership with a series of European and local institutions, is organizing in Bucharest the event "In the face of war - European dialogues," a space for reflection and exchange of ideas essential for understanding the challenges that Europe is currently facing in terms of security, society and geopolitics.The event started on Tuesday in Bucharest.The nearly twenty round tables, debates, interactive workshops attended by renowned personalities will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the French Institute of Romania, Rezidenta9 and Londohome. The programme is completed by a series of film screenings at the Elvire Popesco cinema hall, the same source informs.The workshops dedicated to students will be hosted by the Media Library of the French Institute of Romania."In a context marked by geopolitical tensions and profound social transformations, the event aims to bring experts, opinion leaders and representatives of the civil society from Europe to Bucharest to debate fundamental themes related to security and society. We want to explore not only the impact of war on European societies, but also to encourage dialogue and mutual understanding. In these challenging times, the European spirit - built on solidarity, cooperation and mutual respect - must be protected and strengthened, in order to ensure a common future based on values and trust. The French Institute remains a space of culture, but also of critical thinking, a place where ideas meet and enrich each other," said Julien Chiappone-Lucchesi, general director of the French Institute in Romania.The 26 young people involved in the project come from French and Romanian educational institutions and participate both in the preparation of the series of events in the programme and in the workshops dedicated to them on press freedom or the creation of a podcast.''Through this experience, the young people involved in the project not only enrich their knowledge and skills, but also learn to collaborate and express their ideas in an international context, thus becoming ambassadors of European values and promoters of intercultural dialogue. Their involvement represents a valuable investment in the future, strengthening the ties between France and Romania and promoting mutual understanding and respect,'' the press release states."In the face of war - European dialogues" is a larger project of the French Institute that debuted in 2023 in Prague, followed, in the same year, by an edition in Vilnius, and in 2024 in Warsaw, Amsterdam, Sofia and Plovdiv, Helsinki and Rennes. This year, the European Dialogues series began in Leipzig in March, followed by the Brussels edition, just before the Bucharest one, and will conclude in Sarajevo in the autumn.The Bucharest edition of the project will focus in particular on the military and geopolitical changes in Europe and their repercussions on the emotional health and perceptions of Europeans.The event completes the list of events organized by the French Institute in Romania, on the occasion of the Centenary, starting last year.
