King of Spain: Spain and Romnia firmly reiterate their Strategic Partnership during challenging times

Spain and Romania "firmly" reconfirm their Strategic Partnership in the current situation, King of Spain, Felipe VI, stated in Romania, on Tuesday, while also evoking the contribution of the Romanian community in his country.The Spanish sovereign is currently visiting, together with the president of Romania, Nicusor Dan, the "Getica" Joint Training Centre in Cincu locality, where the NATO Battle Group, which includes Spanish soldiers, is located.This is the first visit by a head of state to Romania after Nicusor Dan took office.The Spanish King said that Spain and Romania "share many ties.""In times of so many shifts and uncertainties, the international order is changing and yet we, Spain and Romania, are clearly reaffirming our Strategic Partnership, as established in 2013, based on the strongest possible links: our peoples. I am thinking of the large Romanian community in Spain, over half a million people, who are fully integrated members of our society, who take part in everyday life, who contribute to our prosperity and help to consolidate our cultural and socio-economic ties at the highest level," said the King.The Spanish sovereign evoked the common vision of Romania and Spain on the European Union, namely "the initiative and conviction both our countries show in the ongoing construction of such a grand project, such a unique project, and our shared sensitivity with respect to so many issues."At the same time, he also highlighted the Spanish military involvement in Romania, in an allied context, including air policing missions and participation in the Battle Group led by France.According to the King of Spain, regarding the Cincu Battle Group, "the impact is evident in terms of security, training and the building of precious professional ties between the armies of the allied countries.""The bonds formed here will endure, I am sure, throughout the careers of our military personnel. It is a new way of building Europe," the sovereign added.King Felipe VI also reiterated his country's commitment to Ukraine."Here, in Romania, a country that feels every day the effects of the war in Ukraine, after the Russian invasion, I wish to reaffirm Spain's determination to continue our support for the Ukrainian people, in defending those fundamental principles and values that we all share as Europeans," the Spanish sovereign said. President Nicusor Dan, while on a visit alongside His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain to the 'Getica' Joint Training Centre in Cincu on Tuesday, said that, at a challenging time for the Euro-Atlantic security, Spain has a consistent and concrete contribution to strengthening NATO's Eastern Flank."We are going through an important and also challenging time for European and Euro-Atlantic security. Your Majesty, I thank you, on this occasion as well, for Spain's concrete and consistent contribution to strengthen security on NATO's Eastern Flank. The presence of Spain's troops in Romania as part of the alliance battle group is clear proof of Madrid's clear commitment to collective defence and deterrence of any threat to regional stability," Nicusor Dan said at the 'Getica' Centre in Cincu.The head of state thanked the Spanish military for the effort they make alongside the other troops deployed to Cincu to enhance the operational readiness of the battle group in Romania and for the continuous contribution to the deterrence posture in the Black Sea region."Only together we'll be more effective and more determined in ensuring a safer security environment necessary for the development of our democratic societies. Together we'll make Europe safer," President Nicusor Dan also said.He said that the Romanian community in Spain represents a vital link between the two nations."A vital link between our nations is the Romanian community in Spain. Over one million Romanians live, work and actively contribute to the economic and social life of Spain. Your Majesty, thank you for your continuous support for this community and for the efforts support of the Spanish authorities to ensure the due respect and support for Romanian citizens," the head of state said.Nicusor Dan underscored that the visit of the King of Spain reflects the depth of the bilateral relations founded on friendship, Euro-Atlantic solidarity and shared democratic values."Your Majesty, I warmly welcome you to Romania! (...) Your visit sends a strong message of unity and friendship between our nations.
