Eurostat:Romania among EU countries with highest increases in industrial production in April 2025

 In April 2025, compared with March 2025, seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased in the EU, but Romania is among the member countries with the highest increases in industrial production on a monthly basis, according to data published on Friday by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).According to Eurostat, in April 2025, compared with March 2025, seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 2.4% in the euro area and by 1.8% in the EU. However, among member states, the largest increases were recorded in Denmark (3.5%), Luxembourg (3.2%), Croatia and Sweden (both at 2.5%) and Romania (2.3%).On the other hand, on an annual basis, April 2025 as against April 2024, industrial production increased by 0.8% in the euro area and by 0.6% in the EU. The largest increases in industrial production were recorded in Ireland (18.4%), Finland (10.2%) and Croatia (6.5%). In this case, Romania is among the member countries with annual declines in industrial production, with a decline of 2.5%, a more modest decrease than the 6.4% recorded in March.Data previously published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) show that in Romania, in April 2025 industrial production decreased from March unadjusted (-8.4%), as a result of decreases in the three industrial sectors: production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (-13.5%), manufacturing (-7.9%) and mining and quarrying (-5.1%).Seasonally adjusted, industrial production was higher on a monthly basis by 2.3% on increases in manufacturing (+2.9%) and the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (+0.1%). Mining and quarrying fell by 0.8%.As against April 2024, April 2025 industrial production was down 9.6% unadjusted on decreases in manufacturing (-11.3%) and mining and quarrying (-3.9%). The production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning increased by 1.8%.Seasonally adjusted it was down 2.4% year-on-year on decreases in mining and quarrying (-3.4%) and manufacturing (-2.9%). The production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning increased by 3%.
