Cars: Trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, up by 1.4%, gross series, in first four months

The volume of turnover in the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles increased, in the first four months of this year, compared to the similar period in 2024, both as a gross series by 1.4%, and as a series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality by 0.2%, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Thus, during the period January 1 - April 30, 2025, compared to the period January 1 - April 30, 2024, the volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, gross series, recorded a turnover higher by 1.4%, due to the increase in turnover in: motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities (+16.6%), trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+12.6%) and trade in motor vehicles (+0.1%). Trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles decreased by 1.4%.At the same time, the total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, gross series, in April 2025, compared to the previous month, registered a decrease of 5.7%, as a result of the decreases recorded in trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (-6.4%), maintenance and repair activities of motor vehicles (-6.2%) and trade in motor vehicles (-5.9%). Trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles increased by 20.6%.The total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, in April 2025, compared to the previous month, decreased by 2.3%.Compared to April 2024, the volume of turnover in the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased in April 2025, both as a gross series by 6.5%, and as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality by 4.7%.The turnover volume in the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased in April 2025, as a gross series, as a result of the decrease recorded in the trade in motor vehicles (-9.0%) and in the trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (-7.3%). Increases were recorded in: trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+29.1%) and maintenance and repair activities of motor vehicles (+8.2%).
