Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is expanding in Europe, including Romania, by opening a new engineering center dedicated to the software-defined vehicle (SDV) sector. Alongside this strategic investment in Romania, TCS has also inaugurated two automotive delivery hubs in Germany, located in Munich and Villingen-Schwenningen. TCS explains that these new facilities represent a strategic effort to support its global automotive clients in developing next-generation mobility solutions. The engineering center in Romania will focus on the development of advanced automotive software platforms, aiming to drive innovation and early-stage project development. TCS emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader commitment to expand its software capabilities in the automotive industry, covering technologies from chip to cloud and related services. On the other hand, the delivery centers in Germany will have the role of supporting automakers in the creation and implementation of software-focused TCS services. These centers currently employ over 100 professionals, who will work alongside TCS’s 2,000+ software-defined vehicle (SDV) engineers across TCS’s global locations. This workforce will focus on building advanced automotive platforms for digital cockpits, infotainment, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and other SDV-critical features. TCS Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Engineering senior vice president & global head Regu Ayyaswamy said: “These new centres will position TCS at the forefront of automotive innovation, enabling us to deliver state-of-the-art solutions in autonomous driving and advanced cockpit systems. This expansion reaffirms our commitment to leading the transformation in the Software-Defined Vehicles space.” TCS is part of the Tata Group, an Indian conglomerate with nearly 100 companies in sectors including automotive, steel, energy, retail, tourism, telecommunications and media. In the automotive space, it owns global brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Motors. TCS generated consolidated revenues of $30 billion in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025 and employs over 600,000 people worldwide.
