Rompetrol expands its presence in the area of Bulgaria's Capital, Sofia

July 10, 2025

Rompetrol Bulgaria, a subsidiary of KMG International Group (Rompetrol) in the region, has recently opened a new fuel station in Sofia, located on Vladimir Vazov Boulevard, near Sofia International Airport.   The fuel station serves the eastern part of the Bulgarian capital, and its opening strengthens Rompetrol's position as one of the major players in the Bulgarian fuel market, with eight active stations in Sofia and 55 units nationwide.   "We are delighted to be closer to our customers in a high-traffic area, at the end of the A2 highway and near the airport, which is an important starting point for all areas of interest in the country. At the new station, guests will be welcomed with the same high-quality Rompetrol services that have earned the loyalty of Bulgarian customers, as well as those from Romania, as many tourists — whether they vacation in Bulgaria, Greece, or Turkey — pass through our stations," said Ramil Iskakov, General Manager of Rompetrol Bulgaria.   The station, which has generated 11 new jobs, spans approximately 200 square meters and is equipped with 10 pumps, including an AdBlue pump (a special solution that reduces nitrogen oxide emissions, which are exhaust pollutants from diesel engines using the selective catalytic reduction system).   The Vladimir Vazov station, like all the other 54 Rompetrol Bulgaria stations, sells Efix fuels produced at Petromidia, Romania's largest refinery and one of the most important in the region.   The distribution network covers the entire territory of Bulgaria, with a significant presence in the capital Sofia (8 fuel stations), the coastal area (3 stations in Burgas, 2 stations in Varna, 1 station in Balchik), border areas (9 stations near main border crossing points), and along major roads used by Romanian tourists traveling to Greece (7 stations).   With a distribution network composed of 55 fuel stations, Rompetrol is one of the key companies in Bulgaria's fuel sector. The subsidiary of KMG International Group also operates a depot in Ruse with a capacity of 5,800 cubic meters.   The depot uses state-of-the-art technologies with blending capabilities for petroleum products. The blending facility allows the mixing of diesel with a bio-component and has marked an innovation in the local market for obtaining clean and sustainable fuels.
