F-16 fighter jets' purchase deal, a key point in Romania-Norway cooperation, DefMin tells Norwegian ambassador

Minister of National Defense Liviu-Ionut Mosteanu met on Thursday at the Ministry's headquarters with ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Romania Hilde Svartdal Lunde, with the sides highlighting the excellent collaboration between the two states in carrying out the contract for the purchase by Romania of 32 F-16 fighter jets, and reiterating the very good relations between the two states, both in a bilateral context and under NATO's umbrella, as well as the need to reinforce them amid the current developments in the European security architecture, the National Defense Ministry said in a release.The Defense minister pointed to the risks and challenges in the Black Sea region, while also warning of the intensification of hybrid actions on NATO's entire eastern flank."A central point of the talks was the technical-military cooperation, with an emphasis on developing relations between Romania's and Norway's defense industry as part of the Romanian Armed Forces' equipment programs. The excellent cooperation in the development of the F-16 aircraft acquisition contract from Norway was highlighted in this context as a strategic initiative for equipping the Romanian Air Force with NATO-grade modern and interoperable capabilities," the cited source said.The Romanian DefMin expressed Romania's firm commitment to continuously support investments and exchanges of technical-military expertise, as an integral part of the consolidation of bilateral relations and close cooperation in support of regional and Euro-Atlantic security.  (Photo:https://armed.mapn.ro/)
