President Nicusor Dan welcomed, on Friday, the NATO and EU announcement condemning Russian influence on European countries and stated that Romania will present, within a reasonable period, a report on manipulation and disinformation."Without any connection to the discussion we had, speaking of Russian interference, I want to welcome the points of view that emerged today through which NATO and the EU expressly spoke of Russian influence on European countries and expressly about its influence in Romania and in the elections in Romania. I believe that it is an important point to understand what has happened in Romania in the last year", said the head of state, after the meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.He indicated that Romania would present, within a reasonable period, a report on manipulation and disinformation."There are two components. One is the classic cyber attack on structures and on this issue we have special reports from STS on such attacks and the second part and which is much more related to the democratic process is the influence through fake news and through an entire process of manipulation and disinformation that takes place inside European countries, all the more so since they are close to the eastern border of the EU and here we have a long debate in the country and we will come up with a report within a reasonable time", explained the Romanian head of state. The North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union firmly condemn the hostile cyber activities carried out by entities subordinate to the Military Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (GRU) and directed against several NATO and EU member states, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday.
