Twelve child patients and 36 relatives evacuated from Israel by Romanian Airforce plane

  Twelve child patients and 36 of their relatives, all Palestinian citizens were evacuated on Wednesday from Israel by a C-130 Hercules plane belonging to the Romanian Airforces. They will be taken to France and Norway.   “A military C-130 Hercules plane belonging to the Romanian Air Force evacuated 12 child patients and 36 of their relatives, Palestinian citizens, from Israel on July 30. After arriving in Bucharest, four patients and six relatives will leave for France by two aircraft of that country, while 8 patients and 30 relatives will fly to Norway by an airplane offered by Slovakiam” the Defense Ministry mentions in a press release.   According to the mentioned source, the air transport mission was requested by the Department for Emergency Situations, following a demand made by the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, coordinated by the Emergency Response Coordination Centre, in the context of security situation deteriorated in the Gaza Strip.   The medical team which accompanied the evacuated people during the flight to Otopeni was made of medical staff sent by DSU and the National Defense Ministry. The Foreign Ministry also participated in the operation. The transport is the 8th of the kind organized from Gaza and included 12 child patients seriously affected by the lack of access to adequate medical care next to 36 family members.   The operation was carried out by the involvement of the Foreign Ministry, with the support of the Romanian Embassy to Tel Aviv, by Romania's Representative Office to Ramallah, of the Defense Ministry, the Interior Ministry- DSU, the Health Ministry and Romanian NGOs, to carry out all taking over activities, transport in Romania, by meansof the Romanian Air Forces and ensuring adequate care during transport.   The operation was financially and operationally supported by means of the EC Civil Protection Meachanism, in close cooperation with WHO and relevant Israeli authorities.  (Photo:www.mae.ro)
