Infrastructure: Physical progress on road section connecting Romania to European motorway network nearing 30 pct

The physical progress on the entire road section connecting Romania to the European motorway network is currently approaching 30%, and the building activity advances at a good pace, Transport Minister Ciprian Serban announced on last Wednesday"An important step for connecting Romania to the European motorway network! Breakthrough achieved today on the first gallery (367.5 meters) of Tunnel 1 on the Margina-Holdea stretch - an important stage for the construction of the 2nd section of the Lugoj-Deva (A1) motorway. This stretch is 9.13 km long and is the only missing link in the Sibiu (Boita)-Nadlac 2 motorway, a road corridor of strategic importance for both Romania and the European Union. The works are being carried out by an association of Romanian and Bosnian contractors, who have 533 workers and 316 pieces of machinery deployed on site. Currently, the physical progress on the entire section is nearing 30%," the minister wrote on Facebook.According to him, the value of the contract is RON 1.82 billion, VAT excluded, an amount ensured under the NRRP, and the deadline for completion of the works is 2026.
