PSD's participation in coalition meetings conditional on privilege removal and budget adjustment measures

 The Social Democratic Party (PSD) makes its participation in coalition meetings conditional on the adoption of the privilege removal package, and on budget adjustment talks for the continuation of investments, PSD acting Chairman Sorin Grindeanu announced."The PSD links its participation in coalition meetings to the following: first of all, the adoption of a package for scrapping privileges, including special pensions, axing agencies both at central and county levels (...), reducing the number of members in boards of directors, slashing allowances and all things related to the elimination of privileges. As soon as all these points are adopted, the PSD will return to coalition meetings," Grindeanu declared on Monday after the meeting of the PSD National Standing Bureau.He specified that PSD is requesting to meet with representatives of the Finance Ministry to see an up-to-date execution of the state budget and discuss the budget adjustment because, he explained "it is absolutely necessary to talk about large and small-size investments, whether they are investments in highways, hospitals and all the other big projects, or projects under the Anghel Saligny program or carried out by the National Investment Company.""Once continuity for these plans is ensured and financing for 'Anghel Saligny' and for investments is secured, we will move on to stage three, the one related to the measures that have been in discussion for long now - health, administration, fiscal measures, plus measures to relaunch the economy, measures to reindustrialize Romania. These are the conditions tabled today by the PSD, these are the conditionalities that were unanimously adopted by my colleagues today, at my proposal, at the meeting of the National Standing Bureau," said Grindeanu.He pointed out that the package to eliminate privileges can be adopted in a fast-track procedure, by the government pledging responsibility in Parliament.The PSD acting Chairman said that he will inform Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and the leader of the National Liberal Party about the decisions taken by the Social Democrats.
