Accountability of the government on the second package will take place, most probably, next week, as it is about ‘an extremely awaited package by the Romanians’, stated on Wednesday the president of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean.'I'm also waiting for the timetable that the coalition will set - I understand that next week would be next week. It's a package that Romanians are eagerly awaiting, which largely concerns the elimination of privileges and interventions on state spending, so the reform of state spending that Prime Minister Bolojan has been talking about since taking office. We are also talking about magistrates' pensions, because it is an important subject. (...) We're talking about interventions on spending in local government, a 20% reduction in salaries and almost 5,000 staff posts, including the property tax system, which is quite old in Romania. Also, on the corporate governance of state-owned companies, we are talking about eliminating some of the unfair allowances and bringing those companies up to the level of performance and to a level of common sense - we are talking about social equity to a large extent. I am convinced that we will have the support of the whole coalition for the assumption in the Parliament', Abrudean said in the Senate. While referring to the fact that the Social-Democrats announced some objections, especially about the taxation and the local administration reform issues, he showed that ‘there are still discussions in order to fix some issues or to agree on the last details regarding this package’.‘I think we will have a final agreement, because we are talking about assuming responsibility in Parliament, which concerns the entire coalition. (.). I don’t think there is no dialogue between coalition leaders, that there are no formal meetings of the entire coalition, I understand that there have been some discussions, political statements, some more tense, some more bellicose, which I take as such, is somewhat normal. But I believe that there is dialogue between the coalition leaders, which is why we will have a formula assumed by the entire coalition’, the Senate President pointed out.
