OECD Secretary General comes to Bucharest; Monday - meeting with Prime Minister Bolojan

 The Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Mathias Cormann, will pay a visit to Romania next week, during which he will have meetings with the authorities in Bucharest.On Monday, Mathias Cormann will have a meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.According to the agenda announced by the Government, the two officials will discuss at Victoria Palace, and later will participate in the meeting of the National Committee for Romania's accession to the OECD.The program also includes joint press statements by the Prime Minister and the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).The OECD official will also meet with the President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean.Romania began, in June 2022, accession talks with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which requires alignment with the highest standards in economic, fiscal, decision-making and sectoral policies.The accession discussions are taking place on the basis of the Roadmap adopted by the OECD, a document based on which Romania is assessed by 25 sectoral Committees. The completion of the technical assessment in each committee involves the adoption of a formal Opinion, which certifies the degree of internal readiness of Romania in terms of alignment with OECD standards, principles and policies. Romania will join the organization after completing these stages and adopting a Decision of the OECD Council.Currently, the OECD has 38 member states, including the world's main economies. Along with Romania, seven other states have candidate status: Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Indonesia, Peru, Thailand, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
