Les Films de Cannes screenings in Bucharest, four other cities in Romania

   The 16th edition of the Les Films de Cannes Festival in Bucharest offers the opportunity this year to film enthusiasts in Bucharest and four other cities in Romania to watch on the big screen films awarded at the French Cannes Film Festival, many of them premiering in the country.Les Films de Cannes will take place in Bucharest from October 24 to November 2.The films will run at the Elvire Popesco Cinema Hall, the Romanian Country Museum Cinema Hall and the Auditorium Hall of the National Museum of Art of Romania.As every year, Les Films de Cannes travels to the country. The audience in Timisoara is expected at the Timis Cinema Hall and the Studio Cinema Hall between October 23 and 26. In Cluj-Napoca, the Victoria Cineam Hall and the Arta Cinema Hall will host the festival between October 30 and November 2. In Iasi, the Ateneu Hall will be the festival destination between November 7 and 9, and in Arad the films can be seen between October 29 and 31, at the Arta Cinema Hall.The public will have the opportunity to watch about forty films, of which over twenty are premiering in Romania, and over a hundred screenings.The previews of the newest Romanian productions are also this year a section of the festival, full of cinematographic surprises. Also, the festival's agenda includes meetings and debates with filmmakers, as well as events dedicated to the film industry, for actors, directors, screenwriters and producers.The winner of this year's prestigious Palme d'Or trophy, "It Was Just an Accident" directed by Iranian Jafar Panahi, will be seen in all the cities where the festival takes place.Another film to run at the festival is "Sentimental Value", directed by Joachim Trier, this year's Grand Prix winner.The public will also have the chance to see the two films that won the Jury Prize. The first is "Sound of Falling" directed by Mascha Schilinski, a German film that follows the destinies of four women from four different generations linked to an isolated farm in Germany, and "Sirat," directed by Oliver Laxe.Also present in Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest is "The Secret Agent", a Brazilian political thriller directed by Kleber Mendonca Filho, starring Wagner Moura. The film won the Best Actor and Best Director awards at Cannes.Also running in the festival will be "La petite derniere" (The Little Sister), a France-Germany co-production directed by Hafsia Herzi, and "Nouvelle Vague", directed by Richard Linklater,The full playbill of the 16th edition of Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest, additional information about the films, related events and guests, will soon be available on the official website of the festival.The Les Films de Cannes Festival in Bucharest is an event founded in 2010 by Cristian Mungiu with support from the general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, Thierry Fremaux, organised by the Cinemascop Association and Voodoo Films.
