Eurostat: Romania recorded biggest increase of construction works in EU, in July

Construction works recorded a modest increase both in EU and the euro zone, in July 2025, compared to June 2025. However Romania was the country with most important advance in that field, from one month to the other, with an increase over 20%, Eurostat data released on Thursday show.   According to those data, construction works went up by 0.5% in the euro zone in July 2025, against June 2025. Among EU member states, the most important increases were recorded in Romania (20.1%), Slovenia (9.9%) and Belgium (2.2%). In Romania's case, the 20.1% rise in July comes after an 8.3% increase in June. At annual level, in June 2024, compared to June 2023, building works went up by 3.2% in the euro zone and by 3.6% in EU. In Romania, construction works recorded an advance of 41.1%, at annual level, the highest advance in EU. Other states with high levels of construction works at annual level were Spain (22.8%) and Slovenia (21.4%).   According to data previously presented by the Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS), the volume of building works grew in July 2025 by 27.2% compared to June 2025, a growth present in capital repair works (+43%), current maintenance and repair works (+27.4%) and new construction works (+23.6%). In detail, there were increases for residential buildings (+37.9%), non-residential buildings (+33.7%) and engineer works (+21.4%).   The volume of construction worls grew, as series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasons, by 20.1%, an increase pointed out with capital repair works (+38.8%), current maintenance and repair works (+27.2%) and new construction works (+19.3%). The volume of building works grew for residential buildings (+30.7%), non-residential buildings (+30.2%) ad engineer works (+16.4%).   Also, in July 2025 against July 2024, the volume of construction works , as gross series, went up by 41.1%. For structure elements, increases were recorded for capital repair works (+67.4%), current maintenance and repairs (+41.1%) and new works (+35.7%). There were increases for residential buildings (+50.8%), engineer constructions (+39.6%) and for non-residential buildings (+38.5%).   As adjusted series, according to the number of working days and seasons, the volume of building works grew by 30.9% on the overall. According to structure elements, the rise is pointed out for capital repair works (+60.9%), current maintenance and repair works (+35.8%) and new building works (+30.4%).   According to construction objects, the building volume went up for residential buildings (+47.6%), non-residential buildings (+36.1%) and engineer works (+34%).
