Oana Toiu participated, on Wednesday, in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, at the informal quadrilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and the Hellenic Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.According to the cited source, the main topics of discussion were connectivity and EU enlargement policy. Opportunities for cooperation in this format were assessed, especially regarding connectivity in the fields of transport and energy.Minister Oana Toiu underlined the importance of the EU's strategic approach to the Black Sea and the opportunities for increased connectivity that open up through the implementation of priority projects promoted within it. The Romanian minister also expressed support for the projects subsumed under the Three Seas Initiative, which prioritizes energy security, rail connectivity and the integration of multimodal transport systems.The discussions addressed the negotiations for the EU's Multiannual Financial Framework from the dual perspective of national and regional priorities regarding financial packages.Regarding the EU enlargement process, the discussions highlighted the support of the four states for its advancement, based on the candidates' own merits in the accession negotiations.The Romanian minister stressed that the common interest is to see the partners involved in the enlargement process, future member states of the European Union, "progress in a predictable and irreversible way, inspired by the values, principles and norms that underpin the European Union".Oana Toiu reconfirmed Romania's firm commitment to enlargement and welcomed the significant progress made by the candidate countries in implementing the European Commission's recommendations.
