Defence Minister Ionut Mosteanu on Friday welcomed officials of the Italian company Fincantieri to discuss the acquisition and modernisation programme of the Romanian Navy and ways in which they can benefit from the investments made by the company in the shipyards of Tulcea and BrailaAspects of Romania's participation in the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument were also highlighted, which emphasises the major involvement of the European defence industry, including in partnership with third countries, such as Ukraine, in the development, manufacture and integration of military equipment, with at least 65% of components made on the territory of the European Union. Risk situations at Romanian-Ukrainian border addressed through a partnership with US police A delegation of Broward County Sheriff's Office Florida, led by sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony paid a visit to the Suceava Border Police Territorial Inspectorate (STPF) in order to analyse the risk situation at the Romanian-Ukrainian border, Spokesperson of the Sighetu Marmatiei Border Police Territorial Inspectorate (ITPF) informed on Friday.According to the quoted source, the partnership, which started approximately ten years ago, is mainly aimed at combating human trafficking, arms and drug trafficking, as well as other forms of cross-border crime."During the visit, Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony, together with his team, took part in the final session on integrated training regarding defensive procedures and techniques aimed at improving response capacity in high-risk situations. The activity was attended by personnel from all institutions with responsibilities in ensuring public order and safety. The delegation viewed the presentation material of the Sighetu Marmatiei Border Police Territorial Inspectorate and its subordinate structures, with several relevant cases managed by the Suceava border policemen in 2025 being highlighted," Iulia Stan said.The delegation is made up of Colonel Ahmed Munib Matloob, Captain Davis Clyde Joseph, as well as Detective Breaban Traian, who are working alongside instructors within the Romanian Border Police - Police Commissioner Bosta Cristian and Chief Police Officer Paul Ghetau.The head of the Suceava STPF, Chief Police Commissioner Calin-Cezar Ciorteanu coordinated the entire course of activities.At the end of the event, as a token of appreciation and good cooperation, the head of the Sighetu Marmatiei ITPF, Police Quaestor Florin Coman, and the head of the STPF Suceava, Chief Police Commissioner Calin-Cezar Ciorteanu, received honorary insignia from the US state institution, while the participants were awarded certificates by the organizers.
