November 6, 2025

Over 13,000 companies ranked in the top 10 positions of the 2025 National Top of Companies recorded a combined turnover of more than 287 billion euros, up 6 percent from the previous year, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) announced. The companies operate in sectors including industry, services, trade, tourism, research and development, high-tech, agriculture-forestry-fishing and construction.According to a release sent on last Wednesday, the CCIR completed the statistics regarding the 2025 National Top of Companies, based on the analysis of 917,881 financial and accounting reports."The 13,078 companies ranked in the top 10 positions, operating in the seven analyzed sectors (industry, services, trade, tourism, research and development and high-tech, agriculture-forestry-fishing and construction), recorded a combined turnover of over 287 billion euros, increasing by 6.07 percent compared to the previous year. Moreover, the operating profit also increased by 1.37 percent, reaching 25.9 billion euros, representing 9 percent of the total turnover," the release mentioned. The data also show a positive trend regarding the workforce. Thus, the 13,078 top-ranked companies employ over 1.39 million people, a 3.77 percent increase compared to the previous period."The figures from the 2025 National Top of Companies speak for themselves. We have a turnover increase of over 6 percent, nearly 1.4 million employees in top companies and a steady expansion in the number of jobs. These results show that Romania's economic situation is not nearly as bleak as it is sometimes portrayed in the public space. The Romanian business environment proves its adaptability. Our companies continue to invest, to hire and to generate profit. The nearly 4 percent growth in the number of employees is a very important signal - the Romanian economy is not only holding up, but it is creating opportunities," CCIR President Mihai Daraban stated. From a sectoral perspective, industry and services lead the ranking by number of companies (34.41 percent, 28.83 percent, respectively), while in terms of turnover, trade holds the largest share (43.98 percent), followed by industry (32.83 percent) and services at (13.14 percent).Industry remains the most profitable sector, accounting for 38.68 percent of the total profit generated by the ranked companies, with a profit margin of 10.63 percent.Since 1994, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) has compiled the National Top of Companies (NTC), being the only institution authorized by an organic law to establish such a ranking at national level. For the 2025 edition, a number of 917,881 financial and accounting reports were analyzed, out of which 356,105 qualified for the competition for the top 10 positions, according to the methodology implemented by Chambers of Commerce across all counties. The ranking is based on five key economic indicators: net turnover, operating profit, operating profit rate, efficiency of human resource use and efficiency of employed capital use.
