Romania's top companies generate EUR 25.9 billion operating profit

  The 13,078 companies ranked in the top 10 positions of the 2025 National Top of Companies (NTC), across seven areas of activity, recorded a combined operating profit of EUR 25.9 billion, according to a Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) release.The CCIR has published the results of the 2025 National Top of Companies, the most important ranking of Romania's top-performing businesses, based on the analysis of 917,881 financial statements."The 13,078 companies ranked in the top 10 positions across the seven analysed sectors (industry, services, trade, tourism, research-development and high-tech, agriculture-forestry-fishing and construction) recorded an operating profit of EUR 25.9 billion, increasing by 1.37 percent compared to the previous year. This profit accounts for 9 percent of the total turnover, which exceeded EUR 287 billion (+6.07 percent)," the release said.Industry stands out as the most profitable sector, accounting for 38.68 percent of the total profit generated by the ranked companies, with a profit margin of 10.63 percent. In terms of turnover, trade holds the largest share (43.98 percent), followed by industry (32.83 percent) and services (13.14 percent).Since 1994, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania has compiled the National Top of Companies, being the only institution authorized by an organic law to establish such a ranking at national level. For the 2025 edition, a number of 917,881 financial and accounting reports were analyzed, out of which 356,105 qualified for the competition for the top 10 positions, according to the methodology implemented by Chambers of Commerce across all counties. The ranking is based on five key economic indicators: net turnover, operating profit, operating profit rate, efficiency of human resource use and efficiency of employed capital use.
