Moldova's President Sandu participated in Bucharest in consecration ceremony of National Cathedral painting

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, was present, on Sunday, in the consecration ceremony of the painting of the National Cathedral in Bucharest, officials from Chisinau said.According to them, Maia Sandu's schedule for Sunday also included a meeting with President Nicusor Dan. The National Cathedral in Bucharest was consecrated Sunday through a solemn service celebrated by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and Patriarch of Romania Daniel, accompanied by an assembly of 65 hierarchs, 70 priests and 12 deacons.From 7:30 to 10:00, Patriarchal Vicar Bishops Varlaam Ploiesteanu and Paisie Sinaitul, together with the Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest Timotei Prahoveanul and a group of priests and deacons officiated the Divine Liturgy which was then followed by the solemn rite of consecration.Attending the ceremony were President Nicusor Dan together with his partner Mirabela Gradinaru and their two children, President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, the Senate President and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Mircea Abrudean and Sorin Grindeanu, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and members of the Government, former heads of state Emil Constantinescu and Traian Basescu, the Custodian of the Romanian Crown Margareta and her spouse Prince Radu, the President of the Romanian Academy Ioan-Aurel Pop, the Apostolic Nuncio to Romania and the Republic of Moldova Giampiero Gloder, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Bucharest, Monsignor Aurel Perca, along with numerous dignitaries and officials, as well as guests from abroad.Tens of thousands of faithful came to witness the event which marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Romanian Patriarchate and the 140th anniversary of the Romanian Orthodox Church being granted autocephalous status.At the end of the ceremony, Patriarch Daniel thanked, among others, the Romanian Governments from 2010 to 2025 for the support provided for the construction of the cathedral, and presented Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I with a Byzantine mosaic icon.  (Photo:https://www.facebook.com/)
