The Foyer of the Chamber of Deputies inaugurated on Monday, in the attendance of numerous guests, an anniversary exhibition marking the 150th anniversary since the birth of Queen Marie of Romania, organized by the Joint Standing Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate on Relationship with UNESCO.Curated by Iulia Gorneanu, the exhibition presents two complementary perspectives on Queen Marie's legacy: a visual one, through a philatelic panel issued by Romfilatelia, a national symbol and cultural landmark, and an artistic one, featuring a private collection of garments and accessories from 1900-1930, similar to those worn by Queen Marie, who uniquely inspired Romanian fashion.The exhibition also displays some of Queen Marie's books in first editions (including one with her autograph), original albums created for her coronation, as well as personal objects, alongside interwar advertisements, martisoare (a symbolic artefact celebrating spring, which includes a red and s white thread) featuring the sovereign's image, a perfume bottle unique in Romanian, photographs and original postcards.The 150th anniversary of Queen Marie's birth has inspired an exhibition designed to showcase the legendary personality of the sovereign, who continues to teach us about beauty, diplomacy, sacrifice, courage and patriotism, the Joint Standing Committee's chairperson, Deputy Dumitrita Gliga underscored.She emphasized that Queen Marie identified with the aspirations of the people, wore their garments with nobility and responsibility, transforming them into royal attire, contributed fundamentally to the the achievement of the Great Union and its international recognition, becoming a national symbol.Deputy Silvia Mihalcea, Secretary of the Chamber of Deputies, highlighted that Queen Marie was at once a sovereign, a diplomat, an artist and a symbol of national unity.The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, cultural figures, museum directors, MPs and other guests, with the National Heritage Institute and Romfilatelia as partners.The event concluded with a concert performed by Grigore Lese.
