Joining the OECD is a condition for our country to also be part of the International Energy Agency, as only members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development can be part of the IEA, said President Nicusor Dan on Tuesday. He conveyed the message in the context of the discussion with Fatih Birol, president of the International Energy Agency. This, says the head of state, formally conveyed to him that Romania is expected to join this prestigious organization as soon as possible in parallel with its accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development."The organization brings together the best energy specialists from around the world and Romania can benefit from their expertise. I discussed with Mr. Birol about energy security in an increasingly dangerous world and about the competitiveness of the European economy in the global context and the investments necessary so that the energy that reaches our citizens and companies will soon be at lower prices than today," Nicusor Dan wrote on Facebook. The President believes that Europe and Romania can achieve these objectives in the medium term, but many public and private investments, political determination and European coordination are necessary."I hope that, as soon as possible after joining the OECD, Romania will also sit at the table where European and global energy policies are discussed. Only in this way can we be a leader in the energy industry in our region", added Nicusor Dan. (Photo:https://www.presidency.ro/)
