Business from market services provided to the population down 1.1pct in Jan-Sep

Business from market services provided to the population decreased by 1.1%, as gross series, in the first nine months of 2025, compared to the same period last year, and by 1.7% as adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Thus, during the period January 1-September 30, 2025, compared to the period January 1-September 30, 2024, the evolution of the market services activity provided to the population, as gross series, was generated by decreases in turnover in the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-15%), gambling and other recreational activities (-3.4%), washing and (dry) cleaning of textile articles and fur products (-1.1%), and hotel and restaurant activities (-0.4%).On the other hand, hairdressing services and other beauty activities increased by 11.1%.Regarding market services provided to the population, the turnover volume saw a decrease of 7.5%, as gross series, in September 2025, compared to the previous month, as a result of the decreases recorded in the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-12.9%), hotel and restaurant activities (-8.9%), hairdressing services and other beauty activities (-6.2%) and gambling and other recreational activities (-3.4%). The activities of washing and (dry) cleaning of textile articles and fur products increased by 11.5%.Business in market services provided to the population increased by 4.7% in September 2025, compared to the previous month, as adjusted series.Compared to September 2024, the activity of market services provided to the population, saw a turnover 4.2% lower, as gross series, in September 2025, against September 2024, as a result of decreases recorded in the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-8.8%), washing and (dry) cleaning of textile articles and fur products (-8.3%), hotel and restaurant activities (-4.9%), hairdressing services and other beauty activities (-4.1%) and gambling and other recreational activities (-2%).The activity of market services provided to the population decreased by 5.1% in September 2025 against September 2024, as series adjusted depending the number of business days and seasonality.
