Justice minister, German ambassador discuss cooperation to tackle human trafficking and organized crime

December 2, 2025

Minister of Justice Radu Marinescu met on Tuesday with the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bucharest, Angela Ganninger, with the two discussing, among others, cooperation to tackle human trafficking and organized crime.According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, the discussions held at the Ministry's headquarters were aimed at strengthening bilateral judicial cooperation and developing institutional dialogue in an international context marked by the rise of cross-border crime, underscoring the need for closer collaboration between Romanian and German judicial authorities, which build on long-standing diplomatic relations and a record of efficient cooperation in the field of justice."An important aspect highlighted during the discussions was the constant support offered by the German side, which also contributed to the training of professionals in the judicial system," the Ministry notes, adding that the talks also targeted cooperation in cases such as human trafficking or organized crime.Aspects related to the importance of digitalization in the judicial activity of magistrates were also analyzed, both for the efficiency of case resolution and for improving the quality of the act of justice."Bilateral judicial cooperation is carried out on the basis of European legal instruments, such as the European arrest warrant and the mechanisms for mutual recognition of criminal rulings," the Ministry of Justice states.
