Fitch confims Banca Transilvania's long-term rating at

The financial rating agency Fitch Ratings confirmed on Thursday the long-term issuer rating of Banca Transilvania (BT) at "BBB-", as well as the bank's viability rating at "bbb-", according to a BT press release.At the same time, Fitch Ratings decided to maintain the "negative" outlook for the ratings confirmed on Thursday, in the context of Romania's country rating.Fitch motivated its decision to confirm Banca Transilvania's ratings by the bank's strong and well-consolidated position on the domestic market, solid capital reserves supported by a robust internal capital generation capacity and stable funding profile."BT's ratings also highlight the quality of the bank's assets, supported by a sound lending policy", the press release states.With a market share of almost 23% of the sector's assets, BT is the largest bank in Romania, with a business model focused on serving SMEs, entrepreneurs and retail clients. Fitch highlights that the bank's loan portfolio is well diversified, and limited exposure to volatile industries supported solid performance throughout the period under review.Financially, the bank recorded high profitability in the first nine months of 2025, as a result of operational efficiency and revenue growth. Capitalization indicators remain solid, and liquidity is adequate, supported by a stable and granular deposit base.Banca Transilvania is part of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group and is the market leader in Romania and South-Eastern Europe, with almost 80% Romanian capital. BT is the first Romanian bank listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (1997). It is the oldest issuer in BET, the first index developed by the Romanian stock exchange (also in 1997). The bank contributed to Romania's qualification as an emerging market, being included in the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (2020). Almost 70,000 shareholders invest in Banca Transilvania.BT is a universal bank, with a market share of 23% of assets, over 5 million customers, more than 10,000 employees and 530 agencies in 180 locations.
