ASF: the law regarding the Pillar III for pensions will be amended to include the occupational pensions in the legislation

The legislation regarding the private optional pensions ( Pillar III) will be revised to include the occupational pensions in the law, they representing one of the strategic projects of the Authority for Fiscal supervision (ASF) for 2016, informs on Friday the institution: ‘the representatives ASF and of the Association for pensions privately managed in Romania (APAPR) agreed to constitute two working groups, one which will focus on the revision of the legislation for pillar III for pensions, to include the occupational pensions in the law’ a press release of ASF says. Among the main discussion issues were the amendment of the legislation in the domain and the optimisation of the investment policy, the two issues focusing on ‘ the good functioning and development of the system of private pensions’. The second working group will have as main issue the completion and the upgrading of the investment policy for pensions funds privately managed and optional ones. According to the ASF representatives, the harmonisation of the investment framework in the domain of private pensions, through regulations which encourage the diversification of the portfolios in agreement with the growing rhythm of the value of pensions funds. ‘Among the measures taken is the development of the market OTC (over-the-counter) and derived products. The participants to discussions discussed the issue of financial education, as an important part of the development of the private pensions system.Both ASF and APAPR showed the necessity to sign partnership to allow the implication of the specialists on the regulated markets in educational programmes’ the press release says. The Authority for Financial supervision (ASF) is the institution which authorises, regulates, supervises and controls the entitites which operate on the non-banking financial market in Romania.
