Amway Report: fear of failure for 85 percent of the Romanians as entrepreneurs

December 23, 2015

The fear of failure is the main hindrance for 85 percent of the Romanians who would like to gain some extra money from a private business, as entrepreneurs, while roughly a quarter (24 percent) are certain they have the necessary skills to commence a business, the Amway Report on entrepreneurship at global level in 2015, released on Wednesday, reads. According to "AGER: Amway's Global Entrepreneurship Report", 38 percent of the Romanians have declared they want to become entrepreneurs. Likewise, almost one half of the interviewed deem that entrepreneurship could bring them a second income source, while 40 percent say this status would make them independent to an employer. The main obstacles to entrepreneurship, according to the Romanian questioned are the fear of failure (85 percent), on a rough rise to the 60 percent of the answers given in 2014 and much above the 69 percent European average. In addition, only 19 percent of the respondents have vindicated that the Romanian society would be entrepreneur-friendly, in a mere decrease against 22 percent in 2014. AGER is a global research carried by Amway in partnership with the Technical University Munich's Strategy and Organization desk. The data collection in the field was coordinated by the "Gesellschaft fuer Konsumforschung (GfK) Nuremberg (TUM)" study. The target-group interviewed in May 26 - June 15, 2015 was represented by 1,084 women and men aged over 15. The research was carried through the individual interviews' method, in accordance with the Omnibus (PAPI-Technology) procedure, by the Gesellschaft fuer Konsumforschung (GfK) Nuremberg and Technical University Munich (TUM)
