Radio Romania celebrates 90 years since entering the homes of the listeners from Romania and from abroad, 90 years since the prestigious public institution reflects the most important events. On 1st of November 1928, there was the first broadcast of the public radio service of Societatea de Difuziune Radiotelefonica (Radiotelephonic Broadcasting Company – e.n.), an institution which today is called Societatea Romana de Radiodifuziune – SRR (the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company – SRR), whose brand name is Radio Romania. In the same year, in order to meet the musical requirements of the new institution and as a materialization of the mission to promote culture assumed by the public broadcasting company, conductor Mihail Jora founded the Radio Orchestra, which today is ORCHESTRA NATIONALA RADIO (the National Radio Orchestra – e.n.), an ensemble which also celebrates the beautiful age of 90 years, and which influenced over the time the Romanian artistic world almost a century! In this anniversary moment, on 1st of November 2018 (at 19.00), the Radio Hall – part of the public radio and the largest symphonic concert hall in Romania – will host an extraordinary concert for celebrating 90 years achieved by Radio Romania and the National Radio Orchestra! The special guest of the evening will be the famous Romanian violinist LIVIU PRUNARU – concertmaster of the world’s best ranked symphonic orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam. The artist has the privilege to perform on a heritage violin: Stradivarius “Pachoud”, since 1694. Along the National Radio Orchestra, Liviu Prunaru will perform three works: Jules Massenet – Meditation from the Thaïs Opera, Gabriel Fauré – Après a rêve for violin and orchestra, and Henryk Wieniawski – Polish in A major. The second part of the evening proposes to the audience one of the most appreciated “hits” of the classical music, the famous cantata CARMINA BURANA, composed by Carl Orff and performed with the participation of the voice soloists DIANA TUGUI (soprano), STEFAN von KORCH (tenor) and BALLA SÁNDOR (baritone).
