President Klaus Iohannis to meet President of European Court of Auditors on Tuesday

President Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday will receive at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace the President of the European Court of Auditors, Klaus Heiner Lehne. On the same day, the head of the state will receive the Vice President of the Swiss Federal Council, the head of the Federal Department of Finance, Ueli Maurer, and also the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Vera Jourova, and he will participate in a round table devoted to the children and parents who left the country to work abroad. The President of the European Court of Auditors will be paying an official visit to Romania on Tuesday, in accepting an invitation extended by the President of the Romanian Court of Accounts, Mihai Busuioc. According to a press release of the Court of Accounts, the invitation extended to the President of the European Court of Auditors was made in the context in which Romania is preparing to take over the rotating presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2019, on which occasion the two presidents will discuss about the importance of developing and further strengthening cooperation between the two audit institutions, their specific activity and topical issues of common interest. The European official’s visit agenda also included meetings with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, Senate President Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, Speaker of the Deputies’ Chamber Liviu Dragnea, Minister of Public Finance Eugen Teodorovici, and Minister-delegate for European Affairs George Ciamba. Moreover, the President of the European Court of Auditors will be delivering a speech to the students of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, to be followed by a Q&A session.
