Lia Olguta Vasilescu: I took into account that my appointment may be rejected, we analyzed this matter inside the party, I assumed it; we knew that the President is a spiteful person

November 21, 2018

Former Labor Minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu stated on Wednesday that she took into account the possibility that her appointment to the Transport Ministry may be rejected, but she appreciates she was qualified for that position. Vasilescu says that the President is a “spiteful” person, and that’s why he rejected her appointment. “I was very qualified for this ministry in terms of management, since when I was the Mayor of Craiova, the city was ranked the first to absorb European funds, and I know that the Transport Ministry has this kind of problem. I took into account that my appointment may be rejected, we analyzed this matter inside the party, I assumed it. It wasn’t an unexpected situation for us at all, because we knew that the President is a spiteful person, first of all, and he will not forgive my statements related to him”, Lia Olguta Vasilescu stated on Wednesday. According to her, there have been party fellows who said she would have been proposed from the beginning for the Ministry of Development, but she says that the proposal to be the Minister for this position will be voted by the Executive Committee on Wednesday afternoon. “If I look at all my political career until today, I believe I left something behind me. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, since I, at least, don’t remember anything remarkable in Mister Iohannis’ term as a President”, Vasilescu added. She said that “it’s a political game of which the President takes advantage”. “I don’t regret anything, it was an assumed decision according to which it’s possible for me to leave the Labor Ministry. All the measures related to the Labor Ministry are already applied “, Vasilescu also added.
