Over 4,000 military personnel to parade under Arch of Triumph, on Romania’s National Day

Over 4,000 military personnel will parade under the Arch of Triumph on December 1, Romania’s National Day and the Centennial of the Greater Union, alongside troops reminding of the traditions of the Romanian people, of the fights during World War I, Lieutenant General Adrian Tonea, Commander of the National Day military parade, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff announced on Friday. “I would like to start by pointing out the inter-institutional effort for the preparations of this event, the national military parade, and the symbolism of this year’s parade is aimed at the Centennial of the Greater Union of December 1, 1918. For the first time will be parading troops bringing to mind the traditions of the Romanian people, of the fights carried out during World War I for the reunification of Romania. Furthermore, this year, around 500 foreign servicemen will attend, in 21 troops from 20 countries, a number of over 200 technical means of the Romanian Army, as well as of the allied and partner countries. Last, but not least, around 50 aircarft will fly over the Arch of Triumph and at the end of the military parade, the Gendarmerie Cavalry will parade and for the first time a sqaud of volunteers, the cavalry of the Ministry of National Defence,” Tonea specified at the rehearsal of December 1 parade, organized on Ghencea training ground. According to the commander of the military parade, new elements are represented by the squad formed of armored carriers for the “Piranha 5” troops, new endowment equipment of the Defence Staff, a “Patriot” missile system, due to endow the Romanian Army starting next year, troops wearing vintage attire, and also, for the first time, a squad of volunteer reservists will parade and the Association of military veterans and veterans with disabilities. He also gave assurance that all the aircraft scheduled for the parade will hover over the Arch of Triumph, regardless of weather. “All scheduled aircraft, due to fly at the parade, will fly: IAR-330H helicopters, IAR-99 Hawk aircraft, F-16, F-18 of the Canadian Armed Forces, C-130 Hercules, the Spartan and last, but not least, Iacarii Acrobati (Acrobats Yak-crew). The MIGs will fly over other localities in the country, where local military parades will be carried out,” Adrian Tonea mentioned.
