Arrivals in tourist reception structures, increasing by 56.3% in July; 8.9% foreign tourists

- Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation increased by 56.3%, while the overnight stays increased by 51.3% in July 2021. - Compared to July 2020, in July 2021 customs registered an increase in the arrivals of foreign visitors of 93.1% and an increase of 63.4% in the departures abroad of the Romanian visitors.     The number of arrivals registered in the tourist reception structures in July 2021 stood at 1.4 million people, increasing by 56.3% compared to those of July 2020, with foreign tourists representing 8.9%, according to the data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) sent on Thursday.Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in the tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe (74.4% of the total foreign tourists), and of these 80.9% arrived from the European Union countries.The overnight stays registered in the tourist reception structures in July 2021 amounted to 3.685 million, increasing by 51.3% compared to those in July 2020.The arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, registered at the border checkpoints, were in July 2021 of 954,300 people, increasing by 93.1% compared to July 2020.The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at the border checkpoints, stood in July 2021 of 1.428 million people, increasing by 63.4% compared to July 2020.According to the INS, the arrivals registered in the tourist reception structures between January 1 and July 31, 2021 amounted to 4.707 million people, increasing by 53.6% compared to the same period in 2020. Of the total number of arrivals, during the mentioned period, the tourist reception with accommodation functions accounted for 93.1%, while foreign tourists registered a percentage of only 6.9%.As to the arrivals of foreign tourists in the tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those arriving from Europe (78.3% of the total foreign tourists), and of these, a percentage of 75.9% come from the EU countries.The overnight stays registered in the tourist reception structures between January 1 and July 31, 2021 amounted to 10.242 million, increasing by 52.5% compared to those of the same period last year. Of the total number of overnight stays, during the mentioned period, the overnight stays of Romanian tourists in the structures of tourist reception with accommodation functions represented 92.9%, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists registered a percentage of 7.1%.According to the INS, the arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, registered at the border points, were between January 1 and July 31, 2021 of 3.321 million arrivals, increasing by 3.2% compared to the period January 1 - July 31, 2020.The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at the border checkpoints, were in the period January 1 - July 31, 2021 of 5.852 million departures, decreasing by 2.4% compared to the period January 1 - July 31, 2020.
