Waterdrop enters the Romanian market

October 27, 2021

Waterdrop, manufacturer of microdrink – compact hydration cubes that dissolve in water and record the fastest growth in Europe, makes its debut on the Romanian market through the website www.waterdrop.ro. The company’s mission is to inspire the growing global community to drink more water through the world’s first microdrink while providing an innovative packaging solution with a strong impact on reducing the environmental footprint.   Made from fruit and plant extracts, the hydration cubes are configured in 12 different flavors: BOOST (blackcurrant, elderflower and acai), YOUTH (peach, ginger, ginseng and aloe), GLOW (mango, cactus fruit and artichoke), ZEN (star fruit, white tea and lemongrass), SKY, CLEAN, DEFENCE, SHIRO, LOVE, RELAX, FOCUS, NERO. Each innovative recipe is developed through intensive research, and in the end, each resulting flavor is unique. At the heart of each recipe is the goal of building the taste of water using the best extracts from fruits and plants. Each microdrink has its own special mixture of fruits, vitamins and superfoods, and thanks to a unique manufacturing process, none of the waterdrop products contain artificial flavors, preservatives, sugar, gluten or lactose.   Water is gradually removed from fruits and plants through a special process designed to store freshness. This technique condenses the essence into a pure powder and completely captures the aroma.   In addition to microdrink, the company has also created microtea, a hot drink from the finest fruit and plant extracts which does not require preparation time or tea bags, only water heated to 60 degrees. For all of the products, Waterdrop has developed a whole collection of bottles and accessories made of sustainable materials.   With accessories that have unique designs such as bottles, straws, decanters, porcelain cups, signature glasses, cocktail shakers, tea pots, tea cups etc, Waterdrop completes the experience and provides all the necessary set-up to drink more water.   “We are eager to offer to the Romanian consumers a new experience with triple impact – completely innovative products with a real health benefit from which derives the second advantage – continuous and varied hydration, but also to contribute together to reduce plastic consumption and reducing CO2 emissions. Our product portfolio will continue to grow with the creation of new micro-beverages, micro-teas, and we plan to expand strongly to Drinktech and water filtration. Our goal is to build a global brand around the notion of sustainable and responsible consumption of water and resources, but starting from micro – from each of us to, and extended to macro”, said Martin Murray, Founder and CEO Waterdrop.   “We would like to spread the idea and mission of Waterdrop not only in CZ, SK, PL but gradually in other countries that are close to us. We are aware of the big problem in the production of plastic bottles and the need to protect the environment. A responsible approach to the drinking regime is key for us. We want to help as many people as possible drink more water and get rid of sugary drinks in plastic bottles. In the Romanian market, we see the potential, uniqueness, diversity, and a great chance to learn a lot about the specifics of local consumers”, added Kate?ina Navrátilová, Managing director Waterdrop CEE.   Waterdrop is present in 13 markets in Europe and the USA and aims to expand on Asian markets. It also has 19 stores. The company’s expansion is fueled by a steady 400% increase since its launch in 2017. To date, more than 200 million microdrink have been sold to more than 1 million customers worldwide. Waterdrop – a personalized hydration concept   On average, Europeans drink about 115 liters of prepackaged water a year. At the same time, according to Euromonitor, every Romanian buys about 190 liters of bubble drinks annually – mineral water, fruit juices and energy drinks, but this market is beginning to feel the impact of changing consumer behavior, increasingly food-oriented and healthier drinks.   Waterdrop solution brings consumers a personalized approach in terms of hydration, offering in addition to microdrink, steel and bamboo bottles and other accessories for drinks that can be reused.   A small cube with a huge impact – more H2O, less CO2   About 500 billion plastic bottles are produced worldwide each year, and nearly half are used to transport bottled water, creating more than 8 million tons of CO2. Waterdrop is strongly oriented towards reducing the consumption of plastic bottles, avoiding long transport routes and aims at reducing the consumption of pre-bottled water and soft drinks with sugar content among consumers.   Thus, by packaging and delivering only the essence of flavored beverages in its micro-type cubes, Waterdrop eliminates up to 98% of unnecessary packaging and CO2 emissions compared to bottled beverages. Moreover, through the partnership with Plastic Bank, for every pack sold, 1 plastic bottle is collected from the environment.   The innovative Waterdrop solution also comes with a series of benefits for business customers by saving an average of 5kg of plastic waste per person per year when changing from PET drinks to waterdrop®, by avoiding refrigerators and saving an average of 2,000 kWh or 2,600 Lei  per appliance annually. In addition, for microdrink, the storage space will be reduced by 98% compared to that occupied by bottled beverages.
