November 9, 2021

Premier Florin Citu and the minister of education, Sorin Cimpeanu occupy the first positions in the top of the ministers’ visibility in September, while most ministers go up in the top on the positions occupied by their former colleagues from USR and in some cases as a result of the taking over as interim of their ministries, among those in this position being Cseke Attila and Lucian Bode. The data come from the Barometre of ministers’ visibility, an analysis made by News.ro and the Agency for monitorisation Klarmedia, on the basis of the monitorisation of written and online press.   Premier Florin Citu is on the first position in the visibility top in September, far ahead of his colleagues in the government, with 108,299 mentions, almost double as compared to the previous month, the peaks being registered in the days when the USR minister of Justice, Stelian Ion was destituted which generated the row in the governing coalition and the motion USR –AUR as well as on the day of the PNL congress which made him become the leader of the party.   The minister of education, Sorin Cimpeanu is second in the top of visibility with 11,431 mentions in the press, due to the statements regarding the infection rate when schools go online, about the situation of the students’ and the teachers’ vaccination and about the conditions for the school year starting day, as well as about the latter subject during the pandemics. As the USR ministers are absent, minister of work, Raluca Turcan goes up from position 6 in August to position 3 in September, the peak as regards visibility being 1st, 16th, 21st September when the minister made comments on the issue of the political situation, of the programme ‘Anghel Saligny’.   Due to pandemics, minister of development, Cseke Attila, interim for Health after the USR ministers left, goes up to position 4 from position 15 as it happened in August, with almost 7,000 mentions, against under 2,000 in the previous month.   The minister of internal affairs, Lucian Bode goes up on position 5 from position 8 with over 2,000 mentions more against August, due to the statements made when he took over the interim with the ministry of justice. The minister was also in the centre of attention in the press when he was caught without a mask at the Untold Festival.   The discussions referring to the increase of gas and electricity prices, to the possible capping as well as information referring to the insufficient stocks of gas made the minister of energy, Virgil Popescu go up from position 9 in August to position 6, from the point of view of mentions in the press.   The minister of finances, Dan Vilceanu dropped on position 7 from position 4 in August, the month when he was nominated in his position. In his case, the peaks of visibility were on 8th, 22nd, 29th September, when he took over the interim with the ministry of transport.   Vice premier Kelemen Hunor, on the last positions in August, with under 2,000 mentions  in the press, goes up on position 8 with over 2,000 mentions, most of them on the days of the UDMR congress and when, being invited to a show, he made several statements regarding the political and the sanitary crisis.   The minister of the environment, Tanczos Barna is in September on position 9, after August when he was position 14, being noticed for his statements referring to the scandal in the coalition, as well as through those referring to the number of calls to 112 which indicated the presence.   The minister of agriculture, Adrian Oros goes up from position 15 to position 10, mostly as a result of the withdrawal of USR ministers. The peak of visibility was reached by the minister on the day he announced his resignation on Facebook.   As a result of the withdrawal of the USR representatives from the government, the minister of foreign affairs, Bogdan Aurescu goes up on position 11 against 13 in August, although with almost 500 mentions fewer in the media.   Eduard Novak, the minister of youth and sport, dropped a position in the visibility top and the last position is occupied by minister of defence, Nicolae Ciuca, under 1,000 mentions in the press. In the previous barometer, Ciuca occupied the last position but two.
