Ludovic Orban resigns from the position of speaker of the Deputies’ chamber on Tuesday

The former leader of the Liberal National Party, Ludovic Orban will register his resignation, on Tuesday from the position of speaker of the Deputies’Chamber after he initially presented it to the PNL chairman Florin Citu, stated liberal sources for News.ro.   After the official registration, at the legislative body, Ludovic Orban’s resignation will be effective and the procedure for the election of a new speaker of the deputies’ chamber will be started. Orban announced his resignation from the position of speaker of the Deputies’ chamber before the PNL congress, saying that, if he loses the leadership of the party, he will withdraw from the position in the parliament. Later, on 27th September, after the PNL congress. Ludovic Orban sent his resignation to the PNL headquarters, to the chairman of the party, Florin Citu.   What the Regulation of the Deputies’ chamber says   According to article 20 from the Deputies’ chamber regulations, the speaker of the deputies’ chamber is elected for the period of the chamber mandate, by secret voting, with voting bulletins where, in alphabetical order there are included the name and forename of all candidates proposed by the parliamentary groups. Each parliamentary group may have one proposition.   As speaker of the deputies’ chamber is named the candidate who got the vote of the majority of the deputies.   If no candidate had, after two rounds, the vote of the majority of the deputies, there are new voting rounds organized, after which the candidate who got the majority of the votes of the present deputies will be elected as speaker of the deputies’ chamber, according to the quorum included in art.67 of the Romanian Constitution, republished.   The quality of speaker of the deputies’ chamber or that of member of the standing office stops following resignation, revocation or loss of the quality of deputy.
