The European Commissioner, Thierry Breton, responsible for the Internal  market starts a visit to Bucharest

December 16, 2021

The European Commissioner Thierry Breton, responsible for the Internal market will meet on Thursday Klaus Iohannis, president of Romania, Cseke Attila, interim minister of Health and Nicolae Ciuca, interim minister of Defence. The European Commissionaire will take part in a press conference with Raed Arafat, state secretary and Lt.Col Valeriu Gheorghita, the coordinator of the vaccination campaign in Romania, says the Representation of the European Commission in Romania in its press release.   „ ‘It is important for me to come, personally, to Bucharest to discuss with the political leaders in Romania, especially about the worrying situation generated by Covid-19. When the winter comes, the low rate of vaccination puts the health of the Romanian citizens – all ages and social categories – in danger. This risk represents a barrier in the way of full recovery of Romania and the European Union as a whole. Europe supplied safe and efficient vaccines in record time – Romania has everything which is needed to use them, to fight against the reluctance to vaccination and stop the spreading of the virus. The effort on the part of all interested parties – government, professionals in the domain of health, NGOs and citizens – must be encouraged and I am looking forward to having these productive meetings’ commissioner Thierry Breton said before the visit.   The European Commissioner meets at 9:00 a.m. with the Acting Minister of Health, Cseke Attila, then with the Acting Minister of Defense, Nicolae Ciuca, at 10:00, and from 12:00 o'clock he will have a press conference with the DSU chief Raed Arafat and the coordinator of the vaccination campaign, Valeriu Gheorghita. At 13:00 he will be welcomed by president Klaus Iohannis, and at 14:00 he will be meeting with the joint Parliamentary Committees of Industry, European Affairs and Health.
