Government approved the Memorandum granting technical and financial assistance to Republic of Moldova

The government approved the memorandum under which Romania will be able to continue providing technical and financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova in several areas, to support its European path, said Government spokesperson Dan Carbunaru."The memorandum approving the negotiation and signing of the agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on the implementation of the technical and financial assistance program based on a non-reimbursable financial aid of 100 million euros granted by Romania to the Republic of Moldova has been endorsed. Practically, the Government has given its go-ahead for the negotiations and the signing of a new agreement under which Romania will continue to provide technical and financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova to support its European path, given that the old agreement allowing Romania to finance important projects in the Republic of Moldova was no longer in force as of March 28 last year," Dan Carbunaru told a news conference at Victoria Palace on Wednesday."Through the old agreement, Romania technically and financially supported projects such as the rehabilitation and modernization of 1,000 kindergartens, schools in the Republic of Moldova or the development of the Iasi-Chisinau Gas Pipeline, a strategic energy interconnection project between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Further, the agreement will include provisions for the development of cooperation in the energy sector, transport infrastructure, environmental protection, combating climate change, public works and infrastructure, SMEs, media independence, public administration reform, Home Affairs, Health, Education, Culture and Heritage, Research and Tourism," Carbunaru also specified.
