Construction works volume down 0.6pct in 2021

In December 2021, the volume of construction works increased, as gross series, by 18.7% compared to November 2021 and was down 0.3% as adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality. ? Compared to December 2020, the volume of construction works rose, as gross series, by 2.9% and was up 0.8% as adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality. ? Compared to the 1.I-31.XII.2020 period, in the 1.I-31.XII.2021 period, the volume of construction works decreased, as gross series, by 0.6%.   Construction works volume lost 0.6pct in 2021, as gross series, compared to the data recorded in 2020, according to the information published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Thus, in 2021, as gross series, by structural elements, there were recorded drops in the capital repair works (-22.6pct) and in the maintenance and current repairs (-7.9pct), while new construction increased by 5.9pct. Also, by type of construction projects, non-residential buildings and engineering constructions decreased by 11.4pct and 6.2pct, respectively, while residential buildings increased by 28pct.According to the same source, in December 2021 compared to November 2021, the volume of construction works increased by 18.7pct, as gross series, an increase highlighted as follows: capital repair works (+ 41.5 pct), maintenance works and current repairs (+ 23.9pct) and new construction works (+ 14.3pct).At the same time, there were increases in the various types of construction projects as follows: engineering construction works (+ 29.6pct), non-residential buildings (+ 11.2pct) and residential buildings (+ 7.6pct).In December 2021, compared to the previous month, the volume of construction works decreased as a series depending on the number of business days and seasonality by 0.3pct, a decrease marked by new construction works (-4.5pct). Major repair and maintenance work, current maintenance and repairs increased by 8.5pct and 3.5pct, respectively.By type of construction projects, the volume of construction works decreased for residential buildings (-8.8pct) and for non-residential buildings (-5.9pct). Engineering constructions increased by 7.4pct.On the other hand, the INS data show that, in December 2021 compared to December 2020, the volume of construction works as a gross series increased by a total of 2.9pct. By structural elements, there was an increase in current maintenance and repair works (+ 24.6pct). Capital repair works and new construction works decreased by 14.8pct and 0.6pct, respectively.By types of construction projects, residential buildings and engineering constructions increased by 16.4pct and 6.9pct, respectively. The volume of construction works decreased for non-residential buildings by 12.2pct.According to INS data, as a series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality, the volume of construction works increased by a total of 0.8pct. By structural elements, there was an increase in current maintenance and repair works (+ 25.1pct). Capital repair works and new construction works decreased by 17.1pct and 1.6pct, respectively. By types of construction projects, residential buildings and engineering constructions increased by 18.8pct and 2.8pct, respectively. The volume of construction works decreased for non-residential buildings by 13.4pct.
