Romania welcomes the adoption by the European Union of sanctions against Byelorussia

The minister of foreign affairs, Bogdan Aurescu welcomed the adoption by the European Union of new sanctions for Byelorussia, stating that they will target the officials of this country, military and certain economic sectors. He also said that the coordination with partners who think in the same way to support Ukraine should continue.   The European Union approved new sanctions against Byelorrusia for the support offered to Russia in the invasion of Ukraine, announced on Wednesday the French presidency of the EU Council. The sanctions will target ‘ some economic sectors, especially in  the wood industry, steel and potassium export," Reuters reports.   An official of the EU stated this week that the new sanctions against Minsk have the role, among others, to stop the export of any Byelorussian goods to the EU, besides the ones which are already the object of sanctions imposed by the Union to Byelorrusia, after president Aleksandr Lukashenko repressed public protests following the elections of 2020.
