April 7, 2022

Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca met on Wednesday with representatives of the business community and the banking sector to analyze the impact of the conflict in Ukraine on the economic situation in Romania.According to a Government's release, the talks focused on developing the country's energy independence, public and private investment, as well as possible vulnerabilities caused by the conflict in Ukraine, such as a possible decline in global car production. The effect of the fake information spread in the public space in the current context was also analyzed, the participants in the meeting agreeing that a joint effort is needed in combating this phenomenon."Unfortunately, this part of fake news catches on very easily, while the arguments are taken over and understood much harder. "We need, more than ever, a call for calm, solidarity and a message of unity: we will support jobs, we will support the economy. We need everyone to communicate that we have the capacity to get over this situation. We call for calm," said the Minister of Finance, Adrian Caciu, present at the discussions. All the topics addressed will continue to be discussed in depth in future meetings, which will take place regularly, the Government said.
