European Commissioner Nicolas Schmit, responsible for jobs and social rights, visits Romania on Thursday and Friday

  The European Commissioner Nicolas Schmit, responsible for jobs and social rights will pay a visit to Romania between 31st March and 1st April.   "The Romanians have received in their homes those fleeing the brutal war in Ukraine, which is why we express our gratitude to them and our solidarity with Romania. During my two-day visit, I will have the opportunity to explain the EU funding options available for receiving refugees and for their integration into education, training and the labour market. I will also discuss the economic and social situation of Romania with the government, parliament and the social partners, in particular measures to strengthen social cohesion. And I will stress the importance of completing the national plan for implementing the European guarantee for children", said Nicolas Schmit, according to a European Commission press release.    During his visit, the dignitary will express the EU solidarity with Romania as regards the reception of the refugees from Ukraine, will have talks with regard to the social reforms and the investments in the plan for recovery and resilience of Romania, as well as to the national plan for the implementation of the European guarantee for children.   The high European official will meet the representatives of the government, of the parliament, of non-governmental organisations, of social partners and will visit two social projects, the quotes source says.   As a result, commissioner Schmit will have meetings with premier Nicolae Ciuca, with minister Marius Budai and the minister for investments and European projects, Dan Vilceanu.   He will also take part in a joint reunion of the commission for work and social protection and the commission for European affairs of the Deputies’ Chamber and the Senate. He will also have meetings with the local authorities and representatives of the non-governmental organisations.   On Friday, 1st April, commissioner Schimit will meet with social partners ( representatives of the employers and trade unions). He will visit a school in Bucharest which received children fleeing the Ukraine invaded by Russia, together with the minister of education, Sorin Cimpeanu.   The commissioner will visit Vocational School Concordia, a NGO co-financed throug the European Social Fund (FSE) which supports the children, the young people and the families in distress so that they can have a more autonomous life and which, at present, support the Ukrainian refugees, the quoted source says.
