Telekom Mobile invests in renewable energy and connects its antennae to solar panels

May 5, 2022

Telekom Romania Mobile announced on Tuesday that they connect their antennae to renewable energy sources on the basis of solar panels, to replace the traditional system of electricity supply. Until now, there were installed solar panels to over 300 GSM antennae and the energy consumption of the respective antennae may be reduced to 90% depending on the weather conditions.   Starting with 2015, the operator has started to install photovoltaic panels, accelerating this process year after year. Until now, there were installed solar panels to over 300 GSM antennae.   The places where the panels are implemented are situated on the whole territory of Romania, in big urban locations or smaller rural ones. For this year, Telekom Romania Mobile has programmed investments which will lead to the doubling of the places to use systems based on solar panels. The company commits to continuing the programme until all feasible locations benefit from green energy solutions.   Following the installment of the panels, the energy consumption of the respective antennae may be reduced to 90% depending on the weather conditions. The difference to 100% is represented by the systems of air conditioning cooling, which use energy from the national electricity grid, as well as other constraints specific to the location.
