Ejobs: HoReCa employers offer over 11,000 jobs in the country and abroad

May 26, 2022

Since March 9, when Covid 19 restrictions were eliminated, HoReCa employers offered 11,000 jobs in the country and abroad, according to eJobs Romania, the leader of the recruiting market.   “Since March 9, when Covid 19 restrictions were eliminated, HoReCa employers offered 11,000 jobs in the country and abroad. That thing ranks the hospitality industry second in the top of sectors with most employment offers after Retail, published in eJobs. Moreover, the number of HoReCa jobs over March 9 to the present day, is 153% higher than in the same period of 2021 and 22% higher than in 2019,” according to data of eJobs Romania, the leader of the recruiting market. If we compare to 2020, a period which coincided with lockdown, the increase is spectacular: + 262%.   Although the employment offer is explosive, candidates are skeptic towards this domain. The number of applications recorded since March 9 to the present day is 20% lower than in the same period of 2021. There is an 11% increase compared to a non-pandemic year, 2019.   “There is an acute labor force deficit in the field, as a result of its instability in recent years. A part of people who used to work in the field chose other fields, which flourished during the pandemic or were more stable. Most candidates who decided to leave HoReCa preferred retail, courier activities, deliveries or ride sharing,” says Bogdan Badea, CEO eJobs Romania, the largest recruiting platform in the country.   Most employment offers in HoReCa were published by employers from big university centers and from towns which attract a significant number of tourists during the summer.   Bucharest ranks first in the top of cities with most jobs in the field, with over 6,000 employment offers. It is followed by Constanta, Timisoara, Cluj Napoca and Sibiu.   “We expect the number of jobs to grow even more during the summer season, but unfortunately, the labor force deficit remains he biggest problem. In this respect, employers continue to use employee imports from abroad. We are optimistic that once salaries will grow in the field and industry image is rehabilitated because there are no restrictions now, candidates from Romania will return to HoReCa jobs”, Badea says.   If we are talking about jobs from abroad in the hospitality industry, 9.4% of all jobs in HoReCa are offered by foreign employment. Most jobs are in Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, France, Denmark and Norway.   “It is important to mention that the whole market, not only HoReCa are in a growing trend. Since the beginning of the year to the present, about 152,000 jobs have been published, 55% more than in the same period of 2021 and about 80% more than in 2020. Practically, the employment offer has reached the level existing before the pandemic,” the platform showed.   Over 36,000 jobs are available for Romania and other countries on eJobs.ro. Launched in 1999, eJobs is the first recruiting platform in Romania and the local market leader. In 2012 it became part of Ringier AG group, the international media company based in Zurich.   Ejobs offers its customers the most relevant candidate base which it offers through efficient methods, using personal media channels advanced by Performance Marketing and Employer Branding campaigns, as well as tactics optimizing recruiting results. The 4.6 million CV s and over 1.3 million monthly applications are the largest base of active candidates in Romania.   More than 2 million users are using the services of eJobs.ro monthly and 7,000 C.V.s are updated daily.
