Eurostat: Denmark, Romania and Estonia, the largest increase in industrial production prices in May

In May 2022, industrial producer prices rose by 0.7% in the euro area and by 0.8% in the EU, compared with April 2022, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In April 2022, prices increased by 1.2% in the euro area and by 1.3% in the EU. In May 2022, compared with May 2021, industrial producer prices increased by 36.3% in the euro area and by 36.4% in the EU.   Monthly comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State   Industrial producer prices in the euro area in May 2022, compared with April 2022, increased by 1.7% for intermediate goods, by 1.3% for non-durable consumer goods, by 0.9% for durable consumer goods and by 0.6% for capital goods, while they decreased by 0.2% in the energy sector. Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 1.3%.   In the EU, industrial producer prices increased by 1.7% for intermediate goods, by 1.4% for non-durable consumer goods, by 0.8% for durable consumer goods, by 0.6% for capital goods and by 0.1% in the energy sector. Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 1.4%.   Among Member States for which data are available, the highest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Finland (+5.5%), Estonia (+5.4%) and Lithuania (+4.9%). Decreases were observed in Ireland (-19.4%), Slovakia (-4.4%), the Netherlands (-0.8%), Bulgaria and France (-0.1% both).   Annual comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State   Industrial producer prices in the euro area in May 2022, compared with May 2021, increased by 94.4% in the energy sector, by 25.0% for intermediate goods, by 12.3% for non-durable consumer goods, by 9.1% for durable consumer goods and by 7.5% for capital goods.   Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 16.0%. In the EU, industrial producer prices increased by 92.9% in the energy sector, by 25.4% for intermediate goods, by 13.2% for non-durable consumer goods, by 9.7% for durable consumer goods and by 7.8% for capital goods.   Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 16.7%. Among Member States for which data are available, the industrial producer prices increased in all Member States, with the highest yearly increases being registered in Denmark (+59.8%), Romania (+59.2%) and Estonia (+53.1%).
