Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca met a delegation of the AmCham American Chamber of Commerce in Romania

July 21, 2022

On Thursday, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca welcomed a delegation of the AmCham American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, telling them that the government wants to increase Romania's credibility as a country of investment and a stable business environment.According to a government statement, the dialogue highlighted a number of challenges facing the business community, such as the demand for labour, declining birth rates, the need for cutting through red tape, and digital transformation, as well as a balanced fiscal policy. Healthcare and cyber-security regulations were also discussed."Stability, predictability and confidence are the principles that were and will always be the basis of dialogue between the government and the business community. The x-ray that the AmCham leaders did today coincides with government's assessment. We must facilitate a legal framework through which we can continue to cut through red tape, removing obstacles and time-consuming processes, with will and optimism on the part of investors. We want to increase Romania's credibility as a country of investment and a stable business environment. We are working hard to reduce the negative effects and to take advantage of the opportunities we have during this period, including business relocations in the region. Regarding the strategic partnership with the US, Romania relies a lot on the capacity of the US business community to generate new investments in Romania," Ciuca is quoted as saying in the press statement.AmCham leaders mentioned the readiness of the majority of its members to keep up or develop the level of investment in Romania. Also attending the meeting with the AmCham leaders on the part of the Romanian government were Finance Minister Adrian Caciu; Economy Minister Florin Marian Spataru; Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation Sebastian Burduja; Minister of Health Alexandru Rafila; chief officer for tourism and entrepreneurship Florin Dobrescu; governmental spokesman Dan Carbunaru; George Agafita, state adviser with the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
