The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) and the National Museum of the Dimitrie Gusti Village are organizing, between September 22-24, 2023, the third edition of the Bread Fair, where Bucharest residents are expected to taste over 100 certified traditional Romanian agri-food products. The event will mark the Day of the Romanian Village, which is celebrated since 2020 on the last Sunday of September."The products and dishes that you will find at the National Museum of the Village represent tradition, work, dedication, passion. They are made by homely people, whom I appreciate and respect for their effort and, for this, we must be with them, so, let's encourage them to carry on these beautiful traditions and bring them to consumers. Go to the Bread Fair this weekend and consume Romanian products!," said the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin Barbu, in a press release sent on Thursady.According to MADR, the offer at this fair will be over 100 traditionally certified products from the more than 750 products registered in the National Register of Traditional Products from the counties of Alba, Botosani, Brasov, Galati, Iasi, Mures, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Valcea, Ilfov and Bucharest. The offer of economic operators who obtain these products based on recipes handed down from generation to generation is diversified from categories such as bakery and pastry, meat products, dairy products, fish products, vegetables - fruits, spirits and many others. The goodies made by small producers, registered on European quality systems, mountain products or as traditionally certified products will delight consumers of all age groups, which is why the organizers are waiting for as many visitors as possible to choose from the Romanian agri-food products brought from most areas of the country, the organizers claim.According to the data of the National Institute of Statistics, bread and bakery products remain in the first place in the choices of Romanians regarding the consumption of food products. In 2021, Romanians consumed 88.57 kg of bread/person, down from 91.19 kg/person in 2020.
