Statistics: THE AVERAGE MONTHLY PENSION INCREASED (+0.3%) IN SECOND QUARTER 2023 AS AGAINST THE FIRST QUARTER 2023

  In the second quarter of 2023:   ? the average number of pensioners was 4978 thousand persons, decreasing by 5 thousand persons as against the first quarter of 2023; average number of state social insurance pensioners was 4598 thousand persons, decreasing by a thousand persons as against the previous quarter; ? the average monthly pension (is determined based on all amounts of pensions for all categories of pensioners –social insurance, invalidity, survivors etc.- paid by Pensions Houses was 2108 lei, increasing by 0.3% as against the previous quarter; ? the average state monthly social insurance pension was 2005 lei, and the ratio between the average nominal net pension of state social insurance for old age with full contribution stage (without tax and without health insurance contribution) and the average net earnings was 50.4% (as compared to 52.8% in the previous quarter); ? the real pension index as against the previous quarter, calculated as the ratio between the nominal pension index (for calculation of real pension)* and the consumer price index, was 97.9%.   Second quarter of 2023 compared to second quarter of 2022 :   • As compared to the second quarter of the previous year, the average number of pensioners decreased by 25 thousand persons, and the average number of state social insurance pensioners decreased by 6 thousand persons; • Monthly average pension and average state monthly social insurance pension increased as compared to the same quarter of the previous year, by 13.9%, respectively 13.0%.   Second quarter of 2023 compared with the first quarter of 2023 :   • The average number of pensioners decreased by 5 thousand persons as against the previous quarter, while the average number of state social insurance pensioners decreased by a thousand persons; • The average monthly pension and the average state monthly social insurance pension increased as against the previous quarter, by 0.3% and respectively by 0.1%.   Second quarter 2023:   The social insurance pensioners represent the majority ( 99.98%) of the total number of pensioners. The state social insurance pensioners represent 92.4% of the total social insurance pensioners. By categories of pensions, the number of social insurance pensioners was represented mainly (79.9%) by the number of old age pensioners. The anticipated and partial anticipated old age categories of pensioners represented 2.2%.   The ratio between the average number of state social insurance pensioners and the one of employees was 8 to 10; this ratio varies widely at territorial level, from only 4 pensioners to 10 employees in Bucharest and lfov county, from 15 pensioners to 10 employees in Teleorman county, respectively from 14 pensioners to 10 employees in Vaslui county.   The average state monthly social insurance pension shows significant territorial disparities, the gap between the minimum and maximum value being 1079 lei (1589 lei in Boto?ani county, 1600 lei in Vrancea county, 1602 lei in Giurgiu county compared to 2668 lei Hunedoara county, 2544 lei in Bucharest, and 2349 lei in Bra?ov and Gorj counties).   In the second quarter of 2023, the total number of beneficiaries of EGO2 no 6/2009 regarding the minimum guaranteed social pension (social indemnity)3 was 1147.7 thousand persons, of which:   • 1031.5 thousand persons from state social insurance system, representing 22.4% of the total pensioners of this category; • 110.4 thousand persons from the former system of farmers representing 64.8% of the total pensioners of this category; • 5.8 thousand persons from military system, representing 2.9% of the total of this category.
