Romania, guest of honor at "Le livre sur les quais" festival in Switzerland

  Romania is the guest of honor at the 14th edition of the "Le livre sur les quais" festival, which takes place in Morges, Switzerland, from September 1-3, under the presidency of the French writer Marie-Helene Lafon, the participation of Romanian writers being supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), through the International Relations Directorate, ICR informs, in a statement sent on Tuesday.Romanian writers Gabriela Adamesteanu, Raluca Antonescu, Radu Bata, Ramona Badescu, Cristian Fulas, Dana Grigorcea, Radu Ioanid, Marius Daniel Popescu, Simona Sora and Ion Vianu and translators Florica Courriol and Jean-Louis Courriol are the protagonists of an extensive program of events with a focus on Romanian literature, organized in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute."The partnership between the ICR and the 'Le livre sur les quais' festival has the role of highlighting Romanian culture and its creators, through the status of Romania as a guest of honor, on the occasion of the three-decade anniversary of Romania's accession as a full member to the International Organization of La Francophonie and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Romanian Cultural Institute. It is an excellent opportunity to promote Romanian writers and their works in a geographical space where the ICR has no representation, but which is part of a joint linguistic and cultural universe," declared Liviu Jicman, chairman of the Romanian Cultural Institute, quoted in the mentioned press release.
