The Chamber of Trade and Industry in Romania (CCIR) organized the second meeting devoted to launching the project on inter-city air connection in Romania. At this meeting, a complex study about the lack of connectivity between Romanian cities, caused bythe precarious land and railway infrastructure in Romania was presented, together with solutions identified for beginning this new project in the aeronautic field. The date of December 1, 2023 was established for setting up a shareholding company with the participation of county councils which have operating airports. The name of the new company will be Romanian Air Lines (LAR). The meeting was attended by representatives of county councils of Arad, Brasov, Bacau, Constanta, Maramures and Sibiu. The meeting also benefitted from the presence of academic representatives, who drew up the study on air connectivity and that of specialists in the air field from Danube Delta Tulcea Airport, Arad International Airport, Maramures International Airport, Stefan cel Mare Airport in Suceava, Craiova International Airport and Tuzla Regional Air Services. “The new air operator suggested by CCIR, which will be a sharholding company, with the participation of county councils as shareholders, will operate with a significant number of small capacity aircraft, between the most important cities of the country. For businessmen this means that in a single day they can travel between cities located at hundreds kilometer distances in a single day, with obvious time and money savings,”said CCIR president Mihai Daraban.
