Study:The insurance industry contributed over 2.8 billion lei to the national economy

The insurance industry has contributed over 2.8 billion lei to the national economy, of which 1.3 billion lei is a direct impact of the added value created - being an important pillar for the Romanian economy. These are the main conclusions of the latest study carried out by the MIR Research group of independent consultants, at the request of the National Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania (UNSAR) , according to a press release sent to the editors. The study analyzes the economic impact of the insurance industry in Romania, according to the cited source.   According to the same study, the industry's contribution to the state budget exceeded 1.5 billion lei, of which over 730 million lei direct impact and over 200 million lei in taxes specific to the insurance sector - amounts that were paid to the budget, reports UNSAR. At the same time, Romanian insurers continue to be an important employer, through the more than 8,000 employees within the insurance companies, as well as by supporting more than 9,000 other jobs in various sectors of the national economy, informs the company. Therefore, each employee in the insurance industry supported more than one additional job in the state economy, adds the cited source.   Another aspect that emerges from the study shows that 60% of employees in the insurance sector are women, a percentage that exceeds the national average of 48%, revealing the important role that insurance companies have in promoting equal opportunities, according to the release.   "The insurance industry plays a vital role in supporting and developing the Romanian economy. The study underlines the significant growth and impact of this sector in the national economic and social ecosystem, highlighting its contribution to the state budget, the promotion of equal opportunities among employees and its role in supporting development and stability in an environment characterized by unpredictability", say the independent consultants MIR Research, the release also states.   Through their activity, insurance companies stimulate economic activity at the national level, including by supporting and stimulating the economic activity of other commercial partners, even by generating new jobs or supporting other jobs in other economic sectors - all translating through revenues to the state budget, the specified source mentions.   "The results of the study highlight the importance of the insurance industry as a pillar of our economy, showing the significant contribution to the development of the Romanian economy and society. At the same time, by paying important compensations, of almost 5 million euros every calendar day, Romanian insurers come to the aid of the people and companies, helping them to overcome difficult moments", declare the representatives of UNSAR, according to the data of the press release.   Considering the essential role that insurance has for the protection offered in case of unfortunate situations, UNSAR launched #faraUNDO, a financial education campaign inspired by the behavior of new generations, intended to contribute to increasing the level of financial education of young people, reports the company.
